A planned weekend away with friends Neill and Suzie and their T25 Mork. (RIP Mindy, 1979- 2007). Neill and Suzie are red wine fiends, so we wanted to find a reasonably local place with a pub on site. Drive down the motorway was a quickie for us from the east side of Glasgow, but again, almost there and the Pootle starts grumbling again. Same problem as our Easter trip.

When we get there the ground is really soft from days of rain and we pick the best two pitches from a bad bunch. Mostly statics on site but space and a toilet block for tourers as well. The site reviews said we would get a warm welcome at the pub and club on site so we were looking forward to a good few beers outside on the patio. The pub turned out to be a lot rowdier than we expected, but hey, other people are having a weekend away too. Without going into too much detail we would all agree that this site really caters for their seasonal pitch and static visitors (and as the sign in the loos said, old tourers don’t die, they just go static). Overall, we felt a bit unwelcome and were practically bum-rushed off the site (is that a real term)?

Drove in to Moffat the next day and a bit of sunshine made all the difference. It’s always good to have a wee tour round a woollen mill to cheer yourself up. Really, you just can’t get enough of these woollen mills!
